Biomimicry conference for TETRA

— filed under:

On 26 November 2009

Ina little bit more than an hour, Gauthier Chapelle will give us an overview of the biomimicry concept, within its sustainability context and through numerous examples. As presented on the TETRA asbl web site:

"Biomimicry: Life's genius

Synthesizing glass at room temperature like sponges; observing termites to be able to reduce the airco; asking firns to make less energy-intensive solar panels; getting inspiration from savannah plants for non-toxic flame retardants; or eventually making cement and bricks with CO2 as raw material like seashells... the biologist Gauthier CHAPELLE, co-founder of Biomimicry Europa & the Greenloop consultancy, invites us to a strange exploration of the living world, equipped with new glasses. An exploration amongst the sustainability champions, be they animals, plants or bacteria. An exploration from which comes out another relationship with all these species living around us, a mix of humility, reverence or sense of wonder. To help us reconnect ?"

The conference, given in French and followed by a Q&A session, will take place at "Les Sources", 48 rue Kelle, 1200 Brussels. The conference room can be accessed with buses 36 & 42, or with tramways 39 or 44. For price and reservation, see the section "Calendrier des activités" from http://www.tetra-asbl.be/tetra_fr.htm.
